The philosophy behind the practice.
Kuro Enso exists because the gap between sustainability intention and operational action is not a knowledge problem. It is a systems problem.
From intention to action.
Packaging transformation at scale requires more than a strategy. It requires a decision framework that connects the right people, the right evidence, and the right priorities — across functions that often speak different languages and protect different interests.
Kuro Enso was founded on the observation that this connection was consistently missing. Not because organisations lacked ambition. But because the frameworks, processes, and cross-stakeholder architectures needed to translate ambition into action were rarely in place. Leadership wanted to move. The system was not designed to let it.
We built Kuro Enso to close that gap. To bring the cross-value-chain knowledge — from raw material suppliers and converters to brand owners, regulators, recovery infrastructure, and technology partners — into a form that smaller organisations can actually use. Practical. Prioritised. Grounded in how packaging systems actually work.
We work the way the problem requires.
Every engagement begins with listening. We do not arrive with a pre-built answer. We arrive with a diagnostic discipline — one that surfaces the assumptions your organisation is carrying forward, maps where the portfolio is exposed, and identifies where the decision architecture needs to be strengthened before change can happen.
We are Europe-focused. We work with companies commercialising products in the EU — helping them navigate PPWR, build PPWR-ready portfolios, and develop the internal capability to make better packaging decisions over time. Not just once, but as a sustained organisational competence.
Our work draws on experience across the full packaging value chain. We have led cross-industry collaborations to develop new packaging frameworks, delivered the first-in-market mono-material packaging innovations for regulated products, and designed eco-design systems that ensured innovation decisions were connected to real environmental outcomes — not just sustainability reporting.
THE FOUNDER

FOUNDER · KURO ENSO
With over two decades of experience across the packaging value chain — spanning raw material suppliers, converters, brand owners, regulatory bodies, and recovery infrastructure — Keiko founded Kuro Enso to close the gap between sustainability ambition and operational action.
Her work has included leading cross-industry collaborations to develop new packaging frameworks, delivering first-in-market mono-material innovations for regulated products, and designing eco-design systems that connected innovation decisions to measurable environmental outcomes. She brings the working knowledge of someone who has sat inside the system — and found ways to move it forward.
Kuro Enso is Europe-focused and works exclusively with life sciences and healthcare SMEs commercialising products in the EU.
